5/5 Paper Movement Stars
What a great reminder to never settle for an ordinary marriage! Although we live in a world where we’re hammered with the marketing lie that happiness is found with newer, better ‘stuff’, in some of the things that really matter (like relationships) we are content with what is far below what we could have.
Justin & Trisha have a crazy story, and although I’d have a hard time classifying the trainwreck marriage they had as ‘ordinary’ they do a brilliant job of laying out their story in a way that definitely makes you want more than just avoiding the nightmare they experienced. It’s an excellent memoir. They progress through their story as the book moves along, breaking down what was going on and sharing lots of noteworthy observations and insights. I’m guessing many people interested in this book aren’t in the position that the Davis’ were, yet there is so many nuggets of rich content dispersed throughout the book that make it well worth a read no matter how you think your marriage is doing.
Best of all, this is a God-focused book. Yes, they stress things like honesty and forgiveness, but ultimately it’s God who helps us reach that extraordinary marriage.
